SKU: 027 Category:

This pottery is made with a low firing process. It has its origins in 16th century Japan and is known as Raku. The glazed parts are fired at about 1000 degrees Celsius in wood or gas kiln, then red in the grips with long tongs and quickly cooled. This caused small cracks in the glaze, which are called crackles, this dark colour and lend their typical appearance of smoking ceramics to the sawdust. The unique vascular surfaces are created by the random Raku controlled firing process.

Each object of themselves is no second time distinctive unique repeatable and its individuality.

A note on the use of Raku ceramics:

-Liquids can be filled for a few hours, but give a slight moisture after a long time on the ceramic surface.
-Basically, hand-washing is recommended, because in the long run the Raku ceramics will be attacked too much by salt from the dishwasher.
-the raku pottery is due to their low firing mode not schlagest, gel and not micro-waveable
-Avoid liquids or strong säurehaltiger food and oil should be filling
the glazes used are non-toxic and lead-free
